What Does a Good Life Mean to You? ¿Qué significa para tí una buena vida?

Over the years, I have learned that the more I let go of some things I don´t need, the more complete and happy I feel!
That means, to me, a good life is having a simple lifestyle. A life where I can enjoy some fresh air, the sea and some sunshine!  We human beings have a special way of complicating our lives, avoiding happiness with our attitude....Do you agree?  What do you think?
Everyone is entitled to have a life in which she or he can enjoy, laugh, and live their own dreams.
Living a simple life does not mean we have no goals. We can live a simple life, set our goals and go for them. For example, my main goal at this time is to make the life of my family here less difficult. than it was yesterday. My goal is to convey even a little joy to the people I am around.
As I said before, my family here,in Mexico, is going through difficult times due to my father's illness...
Back to the subject, the great news is that it is scientifically proved that our brains possesses electrical circuits that connect with the brains of the people we have close to us, as this article from the University of Wisconsin says http://www.neuroscientistnews.com/research-news/brain-imaging-shows-how-children-inherit-their-parents-anxiety
I totally believe that as children if we can inherit and receive our parents anxiety, we can also receive
all the joy via an overactive brain circuit!

Therefore, today I want to challenge you to radiate joy and all the positive feelings you have  to every living being around the world!!

Vivamos irradiando felicidad! ¡Vamos,sí se puede!
Feliz fin de semana!!

Let's Always Be Thankful For Life's Lessons!

There is no doubt about it, every day comes into our lives wrapped with paper of different colors, providing us with a great variety of events and surprises. Some days, the gifts arrive full of joy, others are not very charming presents. Anyway, this is life.

In a nut shell, I am leaving tomorrow for my beloved Mexico since my father is sick and the doctor´s diagnosis is not very favorable, not at all! :(
Many times life moves us from one place to another without being able to do much about it.

The lesson I have been learning through these days is that no matter what happens, there will always be reasons to be thankful for the experiences life is providing us with. Personally, I feel very blessed   because I have had such a lovely father all these years. He may not be a perfect man, but he has loved me much more than I could have ever expected!

Remember, every sunrise is a gift which comes with its own wrapping. Although we cannot see it, its ribbon is helping to hold and cover  all the blessings we cannot see trough our simple eyes. They can only be seen by the eyes of our souls! Let's look for them and we will find all the divine gifts God gives us every day!

With love,

DoraLic.

DoraLic.

Why Do Some People Have More Blessings Than Others? ¿Porqué algunas personas reciben más bendiciones?

A couple of weeks ago I read a phrase which caught my attention. It said, "Blessed are the weird people: poets, musicians, painters,  troubadours - for them, they teach us to see the world through different eyes."
The phrase has been in my thoughts, but today I read an article that complemented such a deep thought! An article written by scientists at the University of Buffalo which explains that our mind plans, but just our feelings define our behavior. http://www.neuroscientistnews.com/research-news/thoughts-drive-dieting-plans-feelings-drive-dieting-behavior

Jesus, the prophet said, "For as, he thinks in his heart, so is" Jesus must also had been a great neuro-scientist! :)
Recent studies also claim that the human heart behaves like another brain. As we know, the heart is the first to start showing signs of life, there must be a reason!

Lets take care of our more valious and precious organ, our heart!
For this, I have two suggestions.

1.- Give yourself permission to take deep breaths at any time of the day. Imagine a big space inside your chest where your beautiful heart can feel comfortable, relaxed and able to work and love in harmony with your thoughts.
2.-Take outdoor walks and pay attention to nature. They will remind you that what governs everything in your sacred body is your heart and its feelings!

Success and blessings arrive only when we marry our feelings and our thoughts!

With love,

Dora.

Dora.

Why Is Working on Projects Vital?- ¿Por qué el trabajar en proyectos es vital?

Next month will be my older daugther's graduation, and you know what? She wants me design and make her graduation dress! This will be a great honor for me!! As many of you know, I am the kind of person who enjoys every project she does. As I mentioned before, fashion design is in my genes since my mother and grandmother were dressmakers!
My childhood was spent in between the soft textures and vibrant colors of the fabrics. I still keep in my memory the  inimitable smell and amazing designs of the fashion catalogs my mother had, plus the beautiful music she listened to late at night while sewing...wonderful remembrances and days!

In fact, I started this project last Sunday by buying a good fashion designer's book. I love having my own books because it gives me the freedom of writing my own notes in them. I must recognize that Google is making a great contribution to this because I have found amazing phrases on Google Plus. This is one of them:   " Lose yourself in the things you love, for that is where you will find yourself too."

That is why, today I want to share the amazing benefits we will find working on the projects we truly love!
1.-We will be motivated to become  experts in the subject.
2.- It will unleash our creativity.- many times we underestimate the tremendous capacity we have.
3.- It will be fun.- we find fun when we combine technique with experience or when we mix logical ideas with illogical things as comedians do. :)
4.-It will provide us with all the vitality we need to work in any area of our lives. When we boost our creativity, we generate lots of positive energy. This occurs because our brains enjoy challenges. If you do not believe me, try and you will be surprised!!

If you work on projects, it will definitely bring you unlimited joy!!

Warmly,

DoraLic.

Afectuosamente,

DoraLic.

Are You Ready to Receive all of Your Greatness?

Did you know that Hispanic people celebrate Easter for a whole week?http://www.journeymexico.com/blog/easter-in-mexico-semana-santa-and-pascua
A good thing about this is we have more time to think about what we really want in this new beginning.
This is the right time to reach all of the greatness or spirituality we wish to achieve.
Perhaps you will ask yourself: "Why should I achieve more spirituality?" The answer is very simple; spirituality is similar to a blanket which protects us against any negative feeling. For example, in this competitive world, it is common to suffer from  low self-esteem or depression.
This is why today I want to share some suggestions for how to become more spiritual human beings .
1.- Love all beings of the creation (but love them as you love your favorite people.)
2.- Stay in touch with nature (listen to the birds' songs, the rain falling, etc.)
3.- Do not try to control other people (controlling our own lives is more than enough.)
4.- Go on daily walks and pray Our Father prayers while walking.
5.- Sing, dance and smile every single day.
6.- Pay special attention to the small coincidences that happens in your daily life.
7.- Write down on a piece of paper everything you wish for and  thank God in advance for the things you asked for.

These seven simple suggestions will help us to connect with our spiritual world!
Spirituality is modest, it stays with us if we do not brag about it!

True success consists of a balance between spiritual wisdom and material wealth!  Let´s strive for all of our greatness!!!

Have a great weekend!!

DoraLic.

Tal vez te preguntes...¿Para qué quiero yo alcanzar dicha riqueza espiritual?

5.- Canta, baila y rie diariamente.

The Power of Self-acceptation - El poder de la autoaceptación-

A little more than two decades ago, on September 20th, 1993 in Los Mochis, Mexico, to be exact, I was at the pediatrician's office when the physician told me, "You cannot wait more, your baby is   tangled  with the umbilical cord around her neck , it is better to do a cesarean on you tomorrow morning"
I was full of surprise since I did not expect that comment until three weeks later, it brought tears to my eyes. There were so much emotions at once: debuting as a mother the next day, having a surgery, etc.

The pediatrician, who knew me since a long time ago because of my job at the same hospital, tried to keep me away from my concerns and with a sweet voice said, "I am happy that you are going to give birth to a girl because a man does not easily forgive his father when he is not raised close to him. I had a colleague, very smart man who deserved to be much more successful but he could never overcome that he wasn't raised by his father." Without saying a single word , I dried  my tears, listened to all of the instructions from the doctor for the next and GREAT DAY and left his office. I was more calm, feeling much better ... I must have felt very strong since I drove by myself  from home to the hospital the next day! :)

I believe my greatest fortune throughout my life has been being surrounded by people smarter than I am. Undoubtedly, the physician told me the right words at the perfect time.
Years later, when  my daughter, Doris Melania, started asking why her father was not with us, and wanted to cry, I used to tell her,"You are a princess and princesses do not cry...one day you will see your dad".

Honestly, I thought she would insist more and I prayed to find the right words to say, but she did not ask so much. She was always happy, friendly, with excellent grades at school. In fact, she earned herself one of the best scholarships that the U.S. offers for universities. I have so much to thank this country.

Back to the subject, it was a couple of years  ago when she told me with a great smile "Mom, when I was a girl, and you told me 'Princesses don't cry', I  thought I really was a princess. I believe this has helped me in different ways to be successful. I think Johns Hopkins University is a real castle and I live there!" :)

Definitely, we can be our best allies or our own enemies, depending on the self-acceptation we have.
I really believe that fostering our childrens' self-esteem is one of the best things we can do for them!

 Warmly,

DoraLic.

How to Get a Sharper Memory!- ¡Cómo lograr una memoria más brillante!

I hope you are having a great time so far this month. Today, March 14th, is the birthday of the famous scientist Albert Einstein. Perhaps this is the reason why I woke up today inspired in sharing some things about science.  Just between us, let me tell you that I love his phrases because they show that science is married (metaphorically speaking) to spirituality!  One of my favorites is,"The only reason for time is that is so that everything does not happen at once." I believe that it is a very enigmatic phrase!

As many of you know, I have spent more than a half of my life in the medical field.  Countless times, I have found myself wondering things that have not even been written in books. I think that  also makes me sympathize with Alberto Einstein! :)
Living here, in this cold weather, I have asked myself so many times: why is it that sometimes I can concentrate better than other times? Or: is it a fact that the brain deteriorates as soon as they say or it is because we do not receive so much blood flow within it?
A recent study done by researchers of University of Cambridge, shows that the difference between a young person's brain and another who is not so young,  is a vascular cause and not a neuronal deficience. http://www.neuroscientistnews.com/research-news/human-brains-age-less-previously-thought
Because the vascular system is vital to have a brilliant memory, I have some suggestions for you today!
1.-Add  some ginger, ginkgo biloba or horse chestnut to your diet.- take only one of these at a time per day. Even though they are natural, they are vasodilators and can cause some bleeding . If you are taking blood thinner, ask you doctor first.
2.-Drink a smoothie made of beet, apple, celery, grapes and chia (all in small amounts) and add some cranberry juice mixed with water. If you do that in the mornings, at least four days per week, it will keep your arteries clean and free of impurities.
3.-Avoid strict diets. If you have been slender almost all your life, avoid a strict diet. Our arteries need a little bit of fat to keep their walls strong.
4.-Go on daily walks and breathe deeply while walking. We need oxygen in our veins. Oxygen is in charge of transporting the blood through our body.
5.-Take short naps. It has been proven that taking two naps twice a day, for ten minutes or less, help us to focus, more than if we take 200 mgs of caffeine.

If we follow these five tips, we will have a brilliant memory, regardless of how old we are. Also, if we do that, we may become timeless people, as our honorable Albert Einstein was trying to explain us!!

Have a wonderful  weekend!!

DoraLic.

¡Me encanta!
