Dare Yourself to be Your Own Boss! ¡Atrévete a ser tu propio jefe!

Hello everyone!  I hope this year is  treating  you great and  at the same time you are keeping your optimism in every moment! In this way you can achieve your most desired goals!

After spending nearly three weeks in Mexico and enjoying my dear family and friends, I  returned to Portland with a world of ideas and positive energy! And you know what?  I came determined to run a new business. Through these twenty years, the most attractive things I've found to being an entrepreneur are dealing directly with the people, serving others with a good purpose and being my own boss. The month of February brings me back good memories  because we will be celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the opening of the laboratory  I founded in Los Mochis, Mexico, with the name "Valenzuela Clinical Laboratory".

Martin Luther King wrote, "The time is always the best when we do the right thing." I completely agree! Many times we get great opportunities but we keep thinking it's not the right time. That is why today I want to share with you a very useful article for those who wish to run their own business.   As pointed out in this interesting article: "If you want to start your own business, you have to decide it now,  you don't have to wait for the perfect time... ."  http://www.digitalaptitude.com/blog/start-company-2014?inf_contact_key=925845bfc4291a14adc1d47b2d9565f09b93d5d8f71af4b140409dc7fde32e05

I strongly believe that 2014 is a good year to start any business you have in mind! For this reason, I urge you to be bold! Life favors the bold, do not forget!

Warmly,

DoraLic.

Vengo resuelta a abrir otro negocio.

Afectuosamente,

Tips to Have a Successful Year! ¡Tips para tener un 2014 exitoso!

I know many of us are under the influence of the Christmas spirit, but it's good to start getting the antenna to connect to the new year, 2014, which is a few hours away from  birth !

I have the great feeling that this will be a good year, throughout the word! Under no circumstances should we forget that to succeed we have to be better in all areas of our lives and to have that, here are some characteristics that all successful people possess.
1.- Use the word NO more often 2. -Practice discipline in all areas. 3.- know yourself  thoroughly.

1 - Successful people know when to say "NO". They are convinced that paying attention to everyone causes chaos. Therefore, we need to save time by saying NO. Successful people knows that! This article can be very inspiring too!! http://ezinearticles.com/?7-Self-Improvement-Secrets-of-the-Worlds-Most-Successful-People&id=547960
2 - . Discipline in all aspects of life is vital, that is the reason why I stress upon it. Today I invite you ask yourself how many hours do you actually sleep? How healthy are you? Do you have discipline in your budget? But the most interesting question is: what are we willing to do in order to change our bad habits?
3.- Knowing yourself is the greatest virtue. Personally, this has been a great challenge for me. Today I want to invite you to make a list. On the left you can write all your flaws. Then, on the right side write all of your virtues. Meeting our shortcomings and doing something to improve them is one o the more powerful t6hings we can do for ourselves. Knowing that will make us even stronger and ourself esteem will tremendously improve !
I invite you to do an overview of your health. For example, some of us can have high and low glucose and that may be preventing us from being more  productive. It is known that muscular strength comes from adenosine triphosphate, formed by the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates where glucose is stored. When this substance is used up, we tend to feel heavy limbs and have a mental block preventing us from having total concentration on what we really want. We also should not ignore our levels of electrolytes such as potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium. A low level of them may cause us  mental confusion too.

Recalling and implementing these suggestions every day we can achieve all the desired success for 2014 !!!

My best wishes for you in 2014 and always !

Happy New Year!!

Dora

Dora

Which is The Best Christmas Present? ¿Cuál es nuestro mejor regalo de Navidad?

Have you ever thought about what the most precious gift that you would like to receive for Christmas is? Personally, I can not complain, life has given me valuable Christmas gifts, among them I include my two daughters!!
By the way, today I want to share with all of you another valuable gift I received  twelve winters ago when   I had the fortune of spending some time close to Aunt Ofelia (my mom's cousin and almost sister).
My dear aunt, who was a widow since she was twenty-three years old, baby sat  my youngest daughter, becoming almost a grandmother for my daughters and a foster mom for me.  My daughters and I had beautiful and unforgettable moments beside her at that time.
Every day she came to my house very early, we talked about different issues and she often prepared a special meal for us, making it all by herself. My aunt, being a widow, she does not have very much money and has lived with her only son all her widowhood. However, we always see her smiling and dressed in bright colors. :)  What caught my attention back then was that any food, even if it was more modest , combined with her imagination, became gourmet!

That is why, twelve winters ago, my aunt gave me one of the most valuable gifts. She taught me that we do not need very much money to have a delicious Christmas dinner every night of the year and be extremely happy. When we look for money, a perfect relationship, or an excellent job, what we actually seek is  happiness. As Chopra would say, "Happiness must be our most important goal."
Tonight, I invite you to look at what really makes you happy!! Then, give it to yourself as a Christmas present!!
The world needs people vibrating with happiness to evolve!
May love and peace reign in our hearts not only today on Christmas Eve, but also in every night and every moment of our lives!

Merry Christmas !!

DoraLic.

¡Feliz Navidad!

Tips to Keep Focused on our Goals!! ¡Tips para mantenernos enfocados en nuestras metas!

Good morning everyone! I hope the month of December is  treating you well!
For those who live far from their birth place and are thinking of going back , I wish them the best luck in their journey!
I love this time when the Christmas spirit invades us! Remember, more important than having money is to be healthy. Speaking of health, I want to share something I consider important for those who suffer from vertigo.  It is said that in The United States, three to five million people suffer from it. I can tell you, from my own experience, that  it is quite annoying not knowing what causes this. However, today I have some good news. It is believed that in most cases, the dizziness is related to  vascular body functions. Vertigo is a disease which it is suffered in silence because no one can see it, only we know. Fortunately, this article brings  wonderful hopes for millions of people around the world!http://www.sciencecodex.com/cu_researchers_may_have_discovered_a_plan_to_disable_menieres_disease-124350

The point is that, with or without dizziness, today I have three suggestions to implement and thus maintain good physical and mental balance in this beautiful  season and always!
1 - . Dance for 15 minutes every morning . 2 - Take ginger powder . 3 - Display your European genes
1.- It is proven that low-impact dance helps us reduce dizziness. It is also believed that vertigo has a link with the central nervous system, which passes along the spine. This is an interesting article http://www.the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/37701/title/Ballet-Brain/When we practice harmonious  movements, the spine also harmonizes well, accommodating  and straightening any twisted nerve around the spine. For those who live in cold climates, dancing puts us immediately  in good circulation. Do not overlook it, let's practice  dance  every day we will  feel great!
2.- Ginger - adding a tablespoon of ginger in the glass of water we have every morning, will help us to eliminate toxins and feel more lucid during the whole day. All with measure, even if it is a natural remedy, it is better to not take it in exaggerated amounts. Try it and you will notice a great difference!!
3 -Your European genes :).- when you go out wearing a beret or  a hat, what people think  you are either Spanish , Italian or French. That's okay, please do not  feel ridiculous wearing them (I did before). While you stay warm and healthy, everything is acceptable :). It is very important to keep the ears covered from the cold wind..Keeping warm the extremities of our bodies causes good blood  flowing avoiding dizziness and slowness in many of us.
If we practice these three recommendations this season, we will not only be prevented from dizziness, but will also have excellent blood irrigation in our brains. Consequently,  we will reach great mind concentration to achieve any goal we have in mind!

Warmly,

DoraLic.

Time to be Kind to Nature and to Ourselves!

A couple of days ago, one of my best friends and mentors turned 90. Although I was sad not being able to contact him and say "Happy Birthday!!", I am tremendously thankful  I have met and interacted with him in this  vast and yet so small world.
I will not mention his name because I do not think it would please him since he was never interested in being a public figure, though in truth , his whole life he has been one. He is one of the most well known physicians in Los Mochis (my city)  and the surrounding area. He was for me and many others like some kind of unknown hero, he enjoyed with all his heart helping people. I really think that what  is making him to live so many years is his true admiration for nature and each of its inhabitants.
About 25 years ago, my friend bought  a small ranch. He planted beautiful rose bushes in all colors and with all different aromas, from where you could watch the colorful sunset and feel the nice breeze from the sea, which is about ten kilometers from there.
Back then I did not see the point of his devotion of going to " el campito " (or small village,as he called it) every day. In addition, he spent long weekends  there, watching his flowers and feeding his animals (a lot of puppies he had as pets). It took me quite a bit of time to understand that being friendly with nature and its inhabitants is to be kind to ourselves because undoubtedly, mother nature gives us back multiplied everything (good or bad) we give.
Now when Thanksgiving is almost here, I  would like to invite you to fervently love nature and all its inhabitants as much as we love ourselves. Let's take care of it with complete devotion! I also invite you to plant the seed and  reap beautiful  things here on earth! Only loving and caring about nature with  our hearts will we be willing to reach real success!!
Have an absolutely happy Thanksgiving !!

DoraLic.

Success, the Perfect Geometry ¡Éxito, la perfecta geometría !

Recently, in conjunction with my youngest daughter, Susan, I've been reviewing some geometry lessons. So much that, automatically, all the figures I see, I find them the shape of triangles, rectangles, circles, etc. :) Then, I realize that, indeed, as  the creative French mathematician, physicist and philosopher, Rene Descartes, would say: "The whole universe is a perfect Geometry." Geometry is eternal and universal , it has been shown through all times. Ancient and modern societies have turned to rise architecture to establish sacred places, such as the pyramids, obelisks, pentagon shaped buildings, etc. Superstition? Who knows, but the world's most powerful empires of all time have been based entirely on geometry and numbers.
Geometry we see reflected not only in civilizations, but also in our body. As many of you know, I am a lover of statistics and science, so the other thing that has left me extremely amused is that reading about Reflexology, I realized that, indeed, the curvature of the foot's arc is exactly proportional the curvature of the spine of each adult human being. I had  to say, wow!! How wonderful that we have mathematical perfection in our bodies!! From today on, promise to pay more attention to my feet, hands, and entire body!

Another clear example that everything is relative, is a recent study which shows that predicting the evolution of some diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, is much like predicting a hurricane. The modern technology puts into consideration the temperature of the air and water, air velocity and pressure, among others. They are being trained every day to give the most accurate news about it. Thus proving that aerospace operations are very similar to those that occur in the human body and especially in the brain of every individual. http://www.the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/38058/title/Opinion--Predicting-Perfect-Storms/

Certainly, to succeed in any field we wish, we need to be aware that we can not break the universal laws.
Therefore, we have to not overlook all those little details, there is no need to become superstitious, it's just a matter of paying attention to the spaces between one amount of time and another and this is none other than geometry. Geometry has been used for centuries to succeed in life and for applying it to our lives to achieve all the harmony  we need!
Have a wonderful week!

DoraLic.

Being Afraid of Spiders is Not too Bad!

I don't know you, but I should confess, I was afraid of arachnids. Born and raised in a region in which all kinds of bugs exist, (scorpions, spiders, etc), I was petrified every time I saw one of  them. I remember once, it was about 18 years ago , I saw a spider coming inside my bedroom , I closed the door and it under it, I was panicked and  went to sleep at my parents' house that night and didn't back home until someone (my sister) killed it. Now I can laugh. :)
My family was amused of how I was such "a strong person", and yet I was terrified of spiders. Fortunately, scorpions and some dangerous spiders do not like the cold weather, so in Portland I have never seen one of them. Indeed, their webs  are used to decorate in these days, like the one I am showing in the picture  :)

Over the years, I have realized that being afraid of these bugs is not so bad, it is said that a brain structure the size of an almond called, "brain Amygdala " is essential to experience fear. People with amygdala damage  can go through life without experiencing any kind of fear for spiders, horror movies, etc. This is truly alarming  because without experiencing fear, a person may  dare to do anything (good or bad). Today, in spirit of Halloween, I will like to share this relevant article: http://www.the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/34277/title/Scaring-Those-Who-Have-No-Fear/

My reflection for  today is: If  experiencing no fear is a defect of the brain amygadala, being afraid of something, is not too bad, doing nothing about it is the problem. Perhaps  one day, not far from now, with the help of technology, science and good will, everyone could become a perfect human being! That day we all could be beings of light!
As Albert Einstein said, "One day when every man discovers his own equation, he will integrate and disintegrate anywhere he wants."...Perhaps one day...What do you think? Happy Halloween!

Warmly,

DoraLic.

Happy Halloween !!

Afectuosamente,

DoraLic!
